Getting Started for Organizations
Welcome to Opentribe! This guide will help your organization start posting bounties, grants, and RFPs to find talented builders in the Polkadot ecosystem.
What You Can Do on Opentribe
As an organization, you can:
- Post Bounties: Create tasks with fixed rewards for specific work
- Offer Grants: Fund larger projects and initiatives
- Create RFPs: Request proposals from the community
- Manage Your Team: Invite members and assign roles
- Track Submissions: Review work and select winners
- Verify Payments: Record and track payments to builders
Getting Started
- Go to opentribe.io
- Click "Sign In" and choose email/password, Google, or GitHub
- Complete your profile with basic organization or founder information
After signing up on opentribe.io and choosing "Organization" during onboarding:
- First time: You'll be automatically redirected to the dashboard at admin.opentribe.io
- Returning users: When logged into opentribe.io, access the dashboard via:
- Click your profile dropdown → "Go to Dashboard"
- Or directly visit admin.opentribe.io
The dashboard (admin.opentribe.io) is exclusively for organizations to manage bounties, grants, and RFPs. Builders use the main website (opentribe.io) to track their work.
If you try to access the dashboard without a valid session, you'll be redirected to opentribe.io/sign-in.
- Navigate to Dashboard → Organizations
- Click "Create Organization"
- Fill in your organization details:
- Name: Your organization's name
- Handle: Unique identifier (e.g., @moonbeam)
- Description: What your organization does
- Logo: Upload your organization logo
- Website: Your main website
- Social Links: Twitter, Discord, Telegram
Each user can create up to 5 organizations. Choose meaningful names as they cannot be changed later.
After creating your organization:
- Go to Organization Settings → Team
- Click "Invite Member"
- Enter their email address
- Select their role:
- Owner: Full control (transfer ownership, delete org)
- Admin: Manage everything except ownership
- Member: Post opportunities, review submissions
Team members will receive an invitation email to join.
Choose the type of opportunity to post:
Bounties
Best for specific tasks with clear deliverables:
- Development work
- Design projects
- Content creation
- Community tasks
Grants
Best for funding larger initiatives:
- Protocol development
- Infrastructure projects
- Research initiatives
- Long-term contributions
RFPs
Best for gathering proposals:
- Solution exploration
- Community input
- Strategic initiatives
Posting a Bounty
Creating Your Bounty
- Navigate to Dashboard → Bounties
- Click "Create Bounty"
- Fill in the details:
Basic Information:
- Title: Clear, descriptive title
- Description: Detailed requirements (supports Markdown)
- Skills Required: Select relevant skills
- Deadline: When submissions are due
Rewards:
- Total Reward: Amount to be distributed
- Token: DOT or any Asset Hub asset you've budgeted
- Winner Structure: Single or multi-winner

2nd Place: $500

Select Winners
- Click "Select Winner" on chosen submission(s)
- Add feedback for transparency
- Notify winners through the platform
Communication
- Comments: Use the comment system for public Q&A
- Updates: Post updates if requirements change
- Feedback: Provide constructive feedback to all participants
Payment Process
You stay in full control of your funds. Send payments directly from your organization's wallet to the builder, then add the transaction hash to Opentribe for tracking.
How to Pay Builders
After selecting a winner, find their wallet address in their profile or submission details.
- Open your organization's wallet (Talisman, SubWallet, etc.)
- Send the agreed amount to the builder's address
- Save the transaction hash
- Return to the bounty/grant page
- Click "Record Payment"
- Enter:
- Amount sent
- Token used
- Transaction hash
- Submit for verification
Opentribe automatically verifies the transaction on-chain and updates the payment status.

- Set review period (typically 2-4 weeks)

How much should we offer for bounties?
Research similar tasks on Opentribe and other platforms. Consider:

Can we cancel a bounty?
Active bounties with submissions should not be cancelled. If you must cancel, communicate clearly with participants and consider partial rewards for work done.
How do we handle disputes?
- Communicate directly with the builder
- Refer to original requirements
- Seek mediation from Opentribe team if needed
- Document all communications
Can we pay in tokens other than DOT?
Yes! Asset Hub supports various tokens including USDC and USDT. Just specify the payment token in your bounty description and record the payment hash when you pay.
How do we build a talent pipeline?
- Post regularly to build relationships
- Provide good experiences for builders
- Offer both small and large opportunities
- Create a mix of bounties and grants
